Washington Women In Need provides grants in four program areas:
How do I Apply?
There are different application procedures, depending on the grant. Please read below for updated information. The next opening dates (dates applications will be available) are:
- Counseling: Our Counseling grant is now available on a rolling basis. We screen for the grant one day a week, each Thursday from 10 am – 12 pm or until we have no more applications. That means that if you are interested in a counseling grant, you can call our office to be screened at 10 am on Thursdays. If you don’t get through that day, you will be able to try back the next Thursday. We are not certain what the demand will be, so bear with us as we are trying to make the counseling grant more readily available to women when they need it. Beginning Thursday, June 4th at 10 am, you may call our offices at 425-451-8838 and dial extension 305 to be prompted to apply for the counseling grant. The line will only be available for no more than two hours (possibly less) and then you can try back the following Thursday at 10 am.
- Education: This grant is now closed. Next opening: July 14th and 15th, ONLINE ONLY. Applications for our next opening for the Education Grant will be available on our website for 2 days (7/14/09 and 7/15/09). You will need to print the application, fill it out, and send them it our offices along with a copy of your financial aid award letter. The application will have instructions and a deadline for its prompt return. As applications are returned, we will screen you for eligibility. To be considered, you must be enrolled in a program of study in an institution that accepts Federal Financial Aid. This opening is to fund women for Fall term 2009 forward.
- Health Care Insurance Premiums: This grant is currently open. This grant will remain open for a limited time only until all applications have been dispersed. You may request an application by calling the Programs office at 425-451-8838 ext. 301. If you leave a message, be sure to leave your name, phone number, and that you are calling about the Insurance Premium Grant. Applicants to the Insurance Premium program must have their own health insurance policy, not paid in part by an employer, in order to apply for WWIN funding - WWIN does not provide health insurance.
- Physical/Dental/Vision/Hearing: This grant is now closed. Our next opening for the PDVH Grant will be in Fall of 2009. Please check this website in September or October for exact dates. No application requests will be accepted before that time/date.
